Minnie

Hey Karin!
Just re-subscribed, mainly so I could check on Minnie's progress. Tbh I've been back on NR for a few weeks in the free sections and avoided subscribing because I never saw any posts from you so I feared the worst. Then I decided I just had to find out!! Sooooooo glad things have worked out for you and the lovely Minnie. X

It's SO good to hear from you. You know with all the support I got the one thing that really stood out was what you said back then.
Not just in regards to Minnie (althought those words really helped me through the darkest times with Minnie) but even with other things in life:
If now is good... well now is all we ever have

Thank You!

Well poo. I feed Smokey three times a day to help him gain weight safely and they also have free choice hay (we don't have pasture. It's too dry in Texas where we are)
I give Minnie only small protein of hay pellets and balancer to get her in her stall so that everybody can eat in peace.
Guess who's had the most noticable weight gain. 😔 Not Smokey.
I'll have to figure out how to accomplish Smokey's weight gain without getting Minnie too fat

Ziggy and Mattie used to be like that. I think it's partly temperament. Mattie was a worrier and he couldn't keep weight on as he got older. Ziggy was carefree and ballooned!

Her coat changes so much.
Dapples in the spring. And apparently stripes as a result of switching her to balancer (vitamins and minerals for horses that live mostly off of forage)

Everything is her business. Today she was supervising getting the barn light fixed

What a whirlwind couple of months.
It's interesting how the dynamics have shifted.
Minnie used to be quite needy, often wanting to rest her head over my shoulder.
She accepted DJ as the leader even up to his last day when he could barely walk.
But now she's all grown up. Lol. She gets to be the leader at last and with that she's also much less needy with me.
In fact she's become so independent that Smokey is actually starting to be my snugglier horse.
